The Board of Trustees

The Kenya Association of Project Managers (KAPM) is managed by a board of trustees through a secretariat. The board of trustees is directly elected by members during the association's Annual General Meeting while the secretariat is employed by the board of trustees for the daily operations of the association. Both the board and the secretariat sit in the association's offices in Nairobi, Kenya.

Christopher Gakuu   Prof Christopher M. Gakuu, PhD – Patron, KAPM


Prof Christopher M. Gakuu is the Associate Dean at the School of Education of the University of Nairobi and the patron of Kenya Association of Project Managers (KAPM). In addition, Prof Gakuuhas immense experience in organizational research, corporate training and leadership. Prof Gakuu holds a doctorate degree in Distance Education from the University of Nairobi and a Master of Business Administration from United States International University (USIU).

Prof Gakuu pursued his Bachelors degree in Education at Kenyatta University. He has a diploma in Personnel and Industrial Relations from Cambridge Tutorial College and a diploma in Business Management and Administration from the same college. Prof Gakuu has published widely and among his publications are: Fundamentals of Management; Concepts, Theories and Practice: A Handbook for Students and Practitioners; Pedagogical Integration of ICT: Successes and Challenges from 87 African Countries; and Distance Learning in Higher Education: An African Perspective.


Prof Raphael O. Nyonje, PhD – Chief Editor, KAPM


Prof Raphael Nyonje is a senior lecturer at the University of Nairobi and a lead supervisor. Dr.Nyonjeis the Chief Editor of Kenya Association of Project Managers (KAPM) and has wide experience in project evaluations as well as social science research and associated trainings. Dr.Nyonje holds a Doctor of Philosophy Degree in Education specializing in Educational Research and Evaluation from the Catholic University of Eastern Africa (CUEA).


He holds a Masters Degree in Educational Planning from the University of Nairobi and a Bachelors Degree in Education from Kenyatta University. Dr.Nyonje is heavily published and among the books he has published are:

  • Monitoring and Evaluation of Projects and Programmes:A hand book for Students and practitioners;Project Planning and Management - Project Planning, Design and Implementation:Notes for Beginners; Capacity Development for Secondary School Principals:Capacity Development; An implication for Educational Reforms in Kenya;Teachers’ Participation in P.E Programme in Kenya;Uptake of  HIV/AIDs Testing and Counseling Services in Kenya;A case of Narok North District, Rift Valley Province.

Dr. Wasike W. Walubengo, PhD- Chairman, KAPM  


Has over ten years as Executive director CBSM (international NGO) ,4 years as Vice Chairman KAPM, Lecturer- University of Nairobi, licensed practitioner - Supply chain management, Peer reviewed Journal/article publisher and TVET Curriculum Development Assessment and Certification Council (TVET CDACC)(www.tvetcdacc.go.ke)


PhD in Project Planning and Management (Planning, Design & implementation) from: University of Nairobi, Master’s Degree in Monitoring and evaluation from Uganda Technology and Management University (UTAMU-University) ,Postgraduate Diploma in Monitoring and Evaluation from:  Mount Kenya University (MKU),MBA in Project Management - Kenyatta University (KU),BPSCM-Bachelor of Procurement and Supply Chain Management -Busoga University, Advanced course diploma in Disciple Leadership- Covenant Ministry (Europe) Graduate Diploma in Purchasing and Supply - CIPS-United Kingdom (Uk),TESSA (Teacher Education in Sub-Saharan Africa) -The Open University -United Kingdom.


Eng John W. Mativo, Vice Chairman, KAPM


Mr Wamunyu is a practitioner of project managemnt with over 20 years of experience specializing on roads.


He holds a masters in project management from JKUAT and BSc Civil Engineering from the same university.


He has been a District roads engineer (Kisumu), District works oficer (Kirinyaga), Regional manager for KeRRA in Samburu and Isiolo county and currently Deputy Director KeRRA in roads asset management.

William Muriithi, Secretary


Mr Muriithi is a proffesional in areas of Project management, ICT and Training.


He holds a Masters degree in project management, Bachelors degree in Business and Information Technology and Diploma in IT.


He also has several professional qualification such as Microsoft Certified I.T Professional, EBC*L European Business CompetenceLicense , PMP, Prince2, ITIL, Oracle among others.


Mr Muriithi has previously worked as the Training and Operations manager, Test center manager, ICT trainer and project management trainer.


Currently he is the Director and lead trainer of a project management and ICT Ttraining consultancy.



Mr. Caleb Temba Abukuse,, Deputy Secretary


Caleb Temba Abukuse has a vast experience in the building sector.


He has a masters degree in project planning and management from University of Nairobi. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in project planning and management from the same University, technician I & II certificates in building construction from Mombasa polytechnic (currently technical university of Mombasa) and a supervisory certificate from Kenya school of government.

 Mary makena  

Mary Makena, Treasurer - KAPM

Makena is a graduate of Masters in project planning and management both from UoN,currently she is persuing a PhD in development at JKUAT.

She is also a director at her Hepta project management firm. She is a strong believer in organizational growth through successful strstegic development and implementation

Collins K. Togom – Research and Publications Director, KAPM


Togom is specialized in Projects Planning and Management at Maseno University and a B. A in Community Development from Daystar University. 

He has worked with Daystar University, worked as a consultant with NGOs and currently works as a Program Director at A-Kili Foundation. His experience of over 8 years in NGOs, Management, Fundraising Strategies, Project Management.


He is a member of Kenya Association of Fundraising Professionals (KAFP), has served as a Country Chair for YALI RLC EA Alumni Association, Country Coordinator Commonwealth Youth Peace Ambassadors Network (CYPAN), Country Director International Youth Action For Development (IYAD) Kenya.

Job M. Magondu - Training and Certification Director, KAPM


Job is a holder of Masters of Art in Project Planning and Management from University of Nairobi, Undergraduate Degree in Bachelor of Business Information Technology, Diploma in Information Technology and Diploma in Computer Engineering. He is also a Cisco Certified Network Associate Instructor among other professional qualifications.


Currently he is the Director and founder of The Kenya Institute of Information and Technology and a chief trainer in-charge of Management and supervisory with NITA Program at The Kenya Institute of Information & Technology, He has a vast Knowledge in Project Planning, Quality Management, Project Finance, Project Monitoring and Evaluations, developing and implementing of curriculum and developing and marketing strategies that will enable me to implement trainings on project management. He is a member of TVET Curriculum development counsel.

Jayne Wasonga – Director of Strategies, KAPM


 Jayne A. I. Wasonga is a Professional Social Scientist, Gender and Development specialist, Project Management Cycle Specialist and Monitoring and Evaluation Trainer.


She has over 19 years experience in participatory analysis and planning techniques, international development work at global and national level with a record of accomplishment in strategic planning, organizational management, providing technical support to country teams and coordinating gender responsive education programs.


Jayne holds a Master of Arts Degree in Project Planning and Management from The Catholic University of Eastern Africa. She has worked in collaboration with the Government, Non-Governmental Organizations and development partners such as USAID, UNDP Amkeni, Embassy of Finland, World bank Arid lands project and Religious organizations in development projects.


Currently Jayne is the Executive Director of Friendly Integrated Development Initiatives in Poverty Alleviation (FIDIPA).



Consolata Wakwabubi – Director of Marketing and Recruitment, KAPM


Consolata is extensively trained in project planning and management, capacity building, Organizational Development and Strengthening. Specifically, she has in depth training and experience in monitoring and evaluation (for both Public and Private Sector Corporate Organizations); Capacity Building of CSOs, gender mainstreaming; and Project Management. 


She has excellent leadership and management expertise backed with vast hands-on experience in small to large organizations and complex donor funded programs as well as sound knowledge of related organizational policies, administrative systems and procedures.


Consolata holds a PhD in project planning and mnagement, Monitoring and Evaluation option, she also holds a Masters degree in project planning and mnagement, Bachelor of Education (Arts) among other qualifications.
